It began as a joke, grew to a viral email and culminated in an art exhibition that has been labelled, “so good I lined up twice,” “fucking incredible” and the “best exhibition ever.” Created using Microsoft Paint, Sarah Thompson’s artful depictions of both prominent and underground Melbourne musicians spent two weeks adorning the walls of Fitzroy’s iconic venue: The Old Bar.

The extremely well attended ‘MS Paint Exhibition’ opening was celebrated with live performances by The Nation Blue, Batpiss and Bodies, who all featured in the artworks.

Now that the exhibition has come to an end, we have collated the images in this slideshow for your viewing pleasure. Not only do these fun pieces look amazing, they also bring a diverse range of amazing artists into the spotlight they deserve.
