Imagine what an epic supergroup featuring Jagwar Ma, King Krule, Earl Sweatshirt, and Warpaint might sound like.

Well you might not have to much longer, thanks to a Sydney producer who managed to wrangle that impressive roster to christen his new recording studio.

Taking some time out from the Laneway Festival 2014 tour, Jagwar Ma’s Jono Ma, Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt, 19-year-old Archy Marshall (aka King Krule), plus Warpaint members Theresa Wayman and Stella Mozgawa gathered for a “12 hour all night recording session,” as promoters Astral People revealed in a Facebook post (that FasterLouder picked up on).

Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist (and fellow Laneway alumni) Jonti was the catalyst for the super-collab, enlisting his “good friends” for the all-night session to test out his new recordings space. Last heard collaborating with Big Scary, the Stones Throw-signed Jonti Danilewitz (formerly known as Djanimals) has a great little book of contacts to draw from.

As well as opening for Jagwar Ma on their Laneway sideshows last month, Jonti’s collaborative history includes working with Odd Future’s Hodgy Beats, Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon and the Dap-Kings.

The Kevin Bacon-style connections don’t stop there. According to FasterLouder, Jono Ma and Warpaint have worked together before, with the latter’s Stella Mozgawa providing drums on Jagwar Ma’s debut LP Howlin’ only for Ma to return the favour on the Warpaint cut ‘Biggie’ from the band’s new second studio album (which by the way, fellow Laneway act Chvrches are big fans of).

Meanwhile, Earl Sweatshirt and King Krule have hit the studio together before, the 19-year-old rapper telling Clash Music earlier this that “making music with that nigga was tight… we were just sitting there faded, fucking doodling,” adds the MC.

As for the new Jonti-approved studio session, there’s no details on whether the results will actually get a recorded release – or if that was even the intention, but the thought alone is enough to whet the sonic appetite of any fan.

Earl Sweatshirt, King Krule, Warpaint, and Jagwar Ma continue with the final dates of the Laneway tour this week. After hitting Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, the festival hits Adelaide tomorrow before wrapping up in Perth this Sunday.
