A Day To Remember Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced.

Joining forces with The Ghost Inside and I KIlled The Prom Queen for a night of metalcore to remember, A Day To Remember headline two special headline sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne later this month, following on from news of Gwar topping a four-strong bill of Soundwave Sidewave shows.

With five albums under their belt, A Day To Remember have cemented their reputation as innovators of their genre, effortlessly blending pop-punk riffs and earth-shattering heavy breakdowns; as heard to brilliant effect on their latest album Common Courtesy (out now through 3Wise in Australia).

Joining ADTR will be The Ghost Inside. “If you put everything you’ve got into something, it’s going to pay off,” says vocalist and co-founding member Jonathan Vigil. And that’s the mantra for this Californian band’s killer live shows. However it’s not just the live arena where these guys excel, as their latest album Get What You Give proves, they are one of hardcore’s brightest lights.

Rounding out the bill are the newly revitalised I Killed The Prom Queen. After a few beak-ups, hiatuses, and members moonlighting in other bands, the band’s third release in its 13-year history, Beloved, will finally be unleashed on fans this Friday 14th February. More of the band’s blood-curdling growls, tempo tantrums, and catchy thrash riffs? on Valentine’s Day!? Perfect.

“We’ve really extended ourselves,” says guitarist (and former member of Bring Me The Horizon) Jona Weinhofen, “But we’ve done it in a way where it’s tasteful and it makes sense with the music. It still sounds very much like Prom Queen.”

The A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside and I Killed The Prom Queen Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves are the latest in a string of announcements from the festival, including Newsted joining Testament for dates after being booted from dates with Megadeth –  who have now cancelled their Soundwave 2014 appearance – and a bizarre announcement thatPennywise would be joining Less Than Jake’s Sydney Sidewave.

In festival tradition, there’s also a string of triple-billed Sidewave shows to enjoy, featuring Mastodon, Baroness, and GojiraThe Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, and Dir En Grey, plus Eagles Of Death Metal, Rocket From The Crypt, & MutemathAlice In Chains, Down, and Walking With PapersLess Than Jake, Bowling For Soup, and Zebrahead, as well as Jimmy Eat World, Panic! At The Disco, with Alkaline Trio.

Other sideshows include Soundwave 2014 headliners Avenged SevenfoldAFI with ††† (Crosses)Rob Zombie & Korn, Alter Bridge & Living ColourFinnish rockers HIM,Richie SamboraBlack Veil BridesBiffy ClyroPlacebo, and Clutch.

In related news, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah is putting together the final set times for Soundwave 2014 and has also confirmed a change of venue for the festival’s closing date in Perth, following in the footsteps of Big Day Out and its last-minute venue change following ongoing battles with the anti-festival attitudes of Claremont Council.
