Cults Groovin The Moo 2014 Sideshows have been announced.

Already confirmed to hit Australia as part of the lineup for this year’s Groovin’ The Moo, New York indie duo Cults will be hitting stages across the country for their own headline tour dates.

Proudly drawing from the colossal pool of artists that have played Laneway Festival, these Laneway Presents shows will be Cults’ second visit to Australia after having wowed audiences at Laneway Festival 2012.

The talented twosome of 24-year-olds – Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion – will be touring off the back of their latest studio offering, last year’s Static, playing a run of dates along the East Coast in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, as well as hitting Perth.

Building on the romantic indie nuggets on their 2011 self-titled debut, Static goes deeper, with songs that reflect love lost, tempered musically with an opulent, more frantic edge alongside melancholic lyrics. At times the lilting vocals and lush instrumentation can almost conceal the dour and sobering words.

Their eponymous debut saw the band sky-rocket from a blog sensation to an international success in less than a year. Playing to audiences the world over throughout the campaign, the pair undertook a near three year tour taking them across the festival circuit from Lollapalooza and All Tomorrow’s Parties to Pitchfork and Bonnaroo; not to mention headline shows across Europe, UK, North America and Australasia.

The news of the Cults Groovin The Moo 2014 Sideshows arrives following similar tour announcements from fellow GTM-billed acts, Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joy and mighty electro duo The Presets.
