The Soundwave 2014 set times have been revealed.

More accurately, the timetables for the annual hard rock festival’s opening date in Brisbane at the RNA Showgrounds, less than a fortnight away, and for Sydney. The remaining set times for Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth are expected to drop Friday.

Following on from Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah revealing drafts of the Soundwave 2014 set times on twitter, the final running order isn’t too different – particularly for the main stages – but with seven stages and over 90 bands on the lineup, clashes inevitably rear their ugly head.

Headliners Green Day will close the main stage with an epic three-hour set, allowing them to rock through Dookie, American Idiot, and still have time left over for the rest of their 11-album discography. Also performing on the main stage is Alice In Chains, Placebo, and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, as well as Jimmy Eat World, A Day To Remember, The Living End (who replace Stone Temple Pilots), and more.

Avenged Sevenfoled will headline over at Stage 3 along with big-name acts Rob Zombie, KoRn, Pennywise, and Panic! At The Disco. The metal stage will be closed by Mastodon, following sets from Baroness, Trivium, Gwar, Down, and Gojira.

One band that’s obviously absent from the Soundwave 2014 set times is Megadeth, who cancelled on their Soundwave commitments last week, just days after Newsted were dropped from Megadeth’s Sidewave shows, while frontman Dave Mustaine claimed they had nothing to do with the band’s removal from the bill.

Following Maddah and Mustaine each posting their own social media statements on the matter, the Soundwave boss apologised to the Megadeth frontman in a tweet, “here it is Dave. I apologize for whatever slight you think I have done you,” but no word yet from Megadeth’s camp, with the promoter adding that there is no updates but “Total silence. Got a call from his agent apologising for his behaviour. That’s about it.”

In more positive news, Soundwave 2014 underwent a last minute venue change for its closing date in Perth, following in the footsteps of Big Day Out, moving away from the Claremont Showgrounds to Arena Joondalup following battles with Claremont Council.

“So excited! Finally no ridiculous sound restrictions or thugs closing down stages!”enthused Maddah recently.

The venue change was actually enabled with thanks to Future Music, who have swapped sites with Soundwave for their underage dance festival, Good Life, which is now taking place at Claremont Showgrounds on Monday 3rd March.

“We felt strongly about assisting Soundwave with the logistical issues they were faced with, as our finishing time is much earlier than Soundwave,” said Future Music and Frontier Touring in a statement. “This allows Soundwave to fully utilise Joondalup Arena and offer the experience they envision for their festival patrons.”
