Ill Nino & Skindred Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced.

Ahead of the annual hard and heavy festival kicking off this weekend as the Soundwave 2014 lineup undergoes more last minute changes, another huge double bill has been unveiled.

Nu-metal outfit Ill Nino and British heavy heroes Skindred are joining forces for co-headline sideshows in Melbourne and Perth, set to take place next week.

With their bilingual lyrics, harsh and melodic vocals, flamenco guitars, tribal drums and salsa inspired bass lines, Ill Nino are heavy rock quintet like no other. Having rocked audiences for over 14 years with their bone-crushing melodies, versatile vocals, and intelligently spaced riffs, the Latin-American heavyweights have won over hundreds of thousands of metal fans worldwide.

Joining Ill Nino for these two monster Sidewave shows are the undefinable and kick ass Skindred; one of the few bands to have combined elements of punk, rock, metal, reggae and electronic music with such success. The band’s brand new and recently release album Kill The Power again see’s the Brits create something completely unique.

The Ill Nino & Skindred Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves are the latest in a string of sideshow announcements form the festival.

The A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside and I Killed The Prom Queen Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves are the latest in a string of announcements from the festival, including Gwar topping a four-band strong bill, shows from A Day To Remember, and a bizarre announcement that Pennywise would be joining Less Than Jake’s Sydney Sidewave.

In festival tradition, there’s a string of triple-billed Sidwaves, featuring Mastodon, Baroness, and GojiraThe Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, and Dir En Grey, plus Eagles Of Death Metal, Rocket From The Crypt, & MutemathAlice In Chains, Down, and Walking With PapersLess Than Jake, Bowling For Soup, and Zebrahead, as well as Jimmy Eat World, Panic! In related news, the revised Soundwave 2014 set times were released last night as another band pulled out of the lineup “due to an issue of a personal nature” while another act has threatened to cancel if their demands for an earlier time slot aren’t met.

Soundwave 2014 kicks off this weekend – with the Brisbane and Sydney legs – before hitting Melbourne and Adelaide next weekend, then closing in Perth, where the festival followed in the footsteps of Big Day Out with a last-minute venue change – moving away from the Claremont Showgrounds to Arena Joondalup following battles with Claremont Council, swapping venues with Future Music and Frontier Touring’s own Good Life Festival, a swap they “felt strongly” about.
