A Poison Idea Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with the self-proclaimed ‘Kings of Punk’ gracing Australian shores for the first time ever.

Get ready to witness punk rock royalty, Poison Idea bring their comprehensive catalogue to a run of East Coast tour dates this May with a series of unique support acts for each show.

Forming in Portland, Oregon in 1980, Poison Idea has had a huge impact on the hardcore punk sound, releasing seminal albums Feel the Darkness (1990), Blank, Blackout, Vacant (1992), We must Burn (1993), and their last album in 2006, Latest Will and Testament – their final album to feature legendary guitarist, Pig Champion.

The more raw sounding earlier releases – like debut EP Pick Your King(1983), Kings of Punk (1986), and fiery War all the Time (1987) – still stand the test of time in any authentic hardcore collection, while legendary vocalist Jerry A continues to lead a reinvigorated Poison Idea lineup of old and new members.

Though their original reign lasted for a little over a decade (from 1980 to 1993), Poison Idea have refused to let their spiky punk fury die in the intervening years since their reformation in 1998 and have been named as inspirations to such seminal acts as Nirvana, Pantera, Machine Head, and Turbonegro – just to name a few!

For their impending Australian debut, Poison Idea will be joined by a raft of punk favourites on each leg of their first ever tour Down Under.

On the opening Adelaide date they’ll be joined by Iron Worzel, Starvation, and The Pro Tools. Shackles, Last Chaos, and Sick People join the Brisbane show, while Sydney gets Aussie punk legends Toe To Toe, AVO, and Hostile Objects. Opening in Melbourne will be Depression, Kromosom, and Hailgun.
