A Lorde Australian Tour 2014 has been announced.
New Zealand’s ubiquitous 17 year old singer is returning to Australia for a large run of near-arena size shows next month, courtesy of Frontier Touring.
Since first emerging just over a year and a half ago, Lorde’s list of accomplishments in that short time are numerous and significant. Chiefly thanks to a string of hit singles, from the global-dominating ‘Royals’ to ‘Tennis Court’, ‘Team’ and more cuts from her million-selling debut album Pure Heroine.
A few Grammys and a Brit Award later, along with critical praise from everyone from Kanye Bowie, Lorde is returning for another headline tour of Australia this April/May (re-negging on previous reports that she’d scrapped tour plans in favour of dates with the American market).
In Australia, the stats also reflect her enormous popularity: three spots in the top 15 of the Hottest 100 (including a #2 position for ‘Royals’); 6 x Platinum recognition for Royals/The Love Club EP and 2 x Platinum for Pure Heroine; over 16 million Spotify streams (making ‘Royals’ the most streamed track in 2013); and an acclaimed spot on the 2014 Laneway Festival.
Lorde’s brand new show – which includes a killer light show and a few surprises along the way – has been attracting amazing reviews since it kicked off in the US this week, and given her sold out success Down Under on previous visits, don’t expect tickets to these all-ages shows to last.
