Even if you didn’t catch ‘This Is A Trent Reznor Song’ – an hilariously accurate parody of Nine Inch Nails – the first time around, there’s now a great excuse to have a chuckle at the pitch perfect send-up of Reznor’s grinding industrial-electro rock.

First hitting the web earlier this year, shortly after Reznor blasted the Grammys with a “heartfelt Fuck You” and ahead of their recent co-headline Aussie tour with QOTSA, the creative jokester behind the NIN parody – Frederick ‘Freddy’ Scott, has taken his spoof another step further, releasing a ‘This Is A Trent Reznor Song’ music video, as Consequence of Sound discovered.

Just as Scott’s cheeky tribute perfectly captures all of Reznor’s musical tics – throbbing electronics, “weird guitar” riffs, and breathy, angsty vocals – delivered in a mimic of Hesitation Marks single ‘Copy Of A’ (how fitting), the video is just as hilariously pitch-perfect.

Starting with a shot-for-shot copy of landmark NIN clip ‘Closer‘, the parody video features grainy film stock, creepy visuals, steampunk props, shadowy figures – pretty much every graphical cue in the Nine Inch Nails bag of tricks, including the distinctive way that Reznor grips the mic as he bellows his intense pain and lyricism.

We think it’s so good that even the fan-baiting, stern-faced Reznor would illicit a grin. Have a watch/listen to the parody below.
