There’s now an update on the rescheduled Rolling Stones Australian Tour 2014.

Promoters Frontier Touring have issued a more precise window for the legendary rock band’s return Down Under.

“The rescheduled Australia/ New Zealand tour dates will take place between 25 October to 22 November 2014,” reads a statement issued on Frontier Touring’s Facebook page this morning.

“Exact dates for each city will be released as soon as the scheduling is confirmed. Australia/New Zealand promoters ask ticket holders to please hold on to their tickets until further notice. The Rolling Stones wish to thank their fans in Australia and New Zealand for their patience and understanding at this time.”

The Rolling Stones ’14 On Fire Tour dates were originally postponed last March following the shock sudden death of Mick Jagger’s long-term girlfriend L’Wren Scott“The rescheduled Australia/ New Zealand tour dates will take place between 25 October to 22 November 2014.”

Following the sad news and personal messages of support from Jagger’s bandmates, Frontier Touring confirmed that the band’s return for their first Australian shows since the multi-million 2006 A Bigger Bang Tour would be postponed until “October/November 2014.”

The tour was originally set to kick off on Wednesday 19th March (where drummer Charlie Watts offered a surprise gig at a jazz club instead) before taking in arena shows in Sydney, Melbourne, an outdoor show at Hanging Rock, and the refurbished Adelaide Oval, where it was alleged that the SA Government had used up to $500,000 of taxpayer money to lure the Stones to Adelaide.

Industry reports suggested that the postponement could have cost the band and associated parties up to $US 10 million owing to the high costs of staging the Stones concerts along with finances involved with venue deposits, storage and shipping of gear, travel and accommodation expenses, and other production costs.

With the more accurate window now announced, Frontier has once again encouraged ticketholders to hold onto their passes until the new dates are finalised and be issued with a new ticket, though fans who have purchased from an official ticketing agency are being given the option of a refund.

But as previously reported, those who splurged for scalped tickets to the Stones first Aussie shows in nearly a decade may not be so lucky, as consumer group Choice warned: “consumers must be able to show proof of purchase of tickets in order to be eligible for a refund. If you bought your tickets through a third party, such as through eBay or a ticket scalper, this may be difficult to get.”

Particularly difficult when you take into account Frontier’s negative view on re-selling and up-selling tickets. In the lead-up to Bruce Springsteen’s recent Australian Tour, Frontier and Mushroom boss Michael Gudinski damned “unscrupulous scalpers” and warned fans over being “duped” by online scammers for tickets to The Boss’ February dates, which eventually grossed $26.7 million.

Come time for Rolling Stones promo for the ’14 On Fire dates, Gudinski reminded patrons to purchase tickets from authorised ticket vendors and to be wary of resell platforms such as eBay, Gumtree, and Viagogo, for running the risk of being burned by scammers.

“Despite claims from many of these unauthorised sellers that they will guarantee tickets, evidence from numerous tours would suggest this is not the case, with many fans being defrauded or left standing outside a venue without legitimate tickets.  I cannot stress the importance of buying tickets from authorised outlets only,” said Gudinski at the time.
