Rather than splitting to avoid getting caught by the fuzz, Supergrass have announced they’re splitting up for good. In a statement to the press the band announced that they’d gotten a bad case of ’17 year itch’ and had decided to call it a day.

It read: ‘Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We still love each other but, cliché notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on and of course we all wish each other well in the future.’

Conveniently, the Oxford band are undertaking farewell shows around the UK. Pencil in reunion gigs in about 10 years time as their royalty and publishing cheques keep getting smaller.
