After their first visit in 2013 performing at Sugar Mountain Festival, MONA FOMA, and tearing across Australia playing some wild sold out shows, Hunx And His Punx (aka Seth Bogart and Co.) are “cruizin’ and bruizin’” their way back into town.

Known for their trashy bubble-gum punk and unforgettable live shows, Seth and his girls will be touring nationally, including an only recently announced visit to Boogie Fest, playing alongside Gary Clarke Jr, Pond, Jason Isbell and more.

Unafraid of exploring the more erotic side of rock n roll, we asked Seth to give us a run-down of some of his favourite ‘sexy’ album covers. Be warned that some of these covers could be deemed NSFW.

Soft Cell – Non Stop Erotic Cabaret

“That light up neon sign is SEXY!”

Non Stop Erotic Cabaret is the 1981 debut release from British Synth Pop duo Soft Cell. Recorded on a very low budget the record was created using mostly a Revox tape machine, two synthesizers and a borrowed drum machine.

The budget constraints didn’t stop the album from making a splash, Non Stop Erotic Cabaret featured the infamous track ‘Sex Dwarf’, the video for which was banned for explicit S&M related content. For educational purposes (of course) you can watch the video here, but be warned it’s NSFW.

Limp Wrist – Limp Wrist

“What’s not hot about a bunch of dudes crowding around a urinal?”

Formed in 1998, Limp Wrist are a US hardcore-punk band who identify as part of the ‘queercore’ punk subculture, essentially an amalgamation of the punk rock movement and gay rights movement, formed in the mid 1980s.

To answer Hunx’s above question – probably the smell, have you been to any dive-bar toilets recently?

Kraftwerk – The Man Machine

“I don’t know why I think this is sexy, I just do!”

The seventh studio album from German electronic group Kraftwerk,The Man-Machine is the band’s most iconic record cover. Released in 1978, NME labelled the LP’ “one of the pinnacles of 70’s rock music”.

Unrest – Animal Park

“Cuz what is sexier than a dick right by a stove. Hey, he’s making me tea!”

Washington based indie rock band Unrest released the Animal Park EP in 1994. This EP was released on 7” vinyl via US indie label TeenBeat Records.

Though there isn’t too much information we can find about the cover model, one this is certain- making tea on the stove top sans-pants is a bad idea, if you insist on being naked waist down while brewing your favourite cuppa’ an electric kettle is safer.

Hunx And His Punx – Gay Singles

“Cuz duh, it is my crotch in a pair of thrift shop animal print underwear I’m proud to say if you google “Gay Sex Album” this is the #2 result. Suck it, Scissor Sisters!”

Released in 2010, this is Hunx and His Punx’s first full-length release, quickly establishing the band as one of the freshest garage punk acts going around. Their combination of Ramones melodies, 60s girl group harmonies and homoerotic subtext, separated the Hunx from every other upcoming US garage act.
