Considering that their first album sound tracked millions of teenagers having nights monged out of their minds on Ecstasy, it’s no huge surprise that MGMT have endorsed the drug. Amusingly, it was in the context of an interview with online magazine Shortlist in which Andrew Van Wyngarden said he wasn’t interested in taking Mephedrone, which is about to be banned in the UK.

He said of the drug – which tends to be sold under the term MDMA Caps in Australia – “It doesn’t sound like something I’d want to do. They’re going to come out with something to show it’s really bad for you physically, and people will stop doing it.”However, when it comes to ecstasy, he sings a different song. “But ecstasy isn’t really bad for you,” he said.
