Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows have been announced, with festival promoters Secret Sounds revealing a huge list of headline sideshows featuring many of the major players of Splendour’s 80+ strong lineup.

These charming Californians have been on one hell of a ride; their album Torches sold nearly 2 million copies worldwide, reaching #1 on the ARIA charts along with their 6 x platinum song of the year Pumped Up Kicks. Their much-anticipated second release, the Triple J Album of the Week awarded Supermodel just dropped with ‘Coming of Ag’e and infectious new track ‘Best Friend’ in high radio rotation and set to be among the songs of 2014.

Grouplove are rapidly becoming one of the best live bands of their generation, their raucous live show has entertained surging crowds on back-to-back headlining tours. Their second album Spreading Rumours has already delivered awesome hits ‘Ways To Go’ and ‘Shark Attack’, with more to come. Grouplove will be teaming up with the charming young Norwegian/ Bulgarian maverick Mikahel Paskalev for their Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows. Phantogram & Mas Ysa Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

New York duo Phantogram are the pair behind the entrancing hit ‘Fall in love’ (and its equally stunning video) from their critically acclaimed album Voices. The pair bring their elegant electronic pop to Australia this July, and have a very special guest joining them for their headline sideshows. Witness nomadic composer Thomas Arsenault, aka Mas Ysa, bring his unique blend of triumphant, danceable, melancholy folk music to Australia for the first time. With no public songs or marketing, Mas Ysa had already shared the stage with Deerhunter, Purity Ring and Delorean.

Evoking early-’90s grunge, British three-piece, Darlia has lured fans and industry alike; landing Zane Lowe’s Next Hype Record on BBC Radio 1 and full rotation on Triple J. Their debut EP Candyman dropped in April with the title track causing quite a stir online, also named Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1. Catch Darlia play to Aussie audiences for the first time this July.

Metronomy & Circa Waves Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

Bringing a simultaneously fresh and timeless approach to electro pop, London foursome Metronomy is known for writing great songs, crafting lyrics with care and pushing pop melodies into fabulous shapes. Their Mercury prize-nominated and critically lauded album The English Riveria elevated them to the upper echelons of the UK’s music elite and they recently dropped their fourth and latest album Love Letters. They will be joined by English guitar rock upstarts Circa Waves, who are also playing their own headline sideshow in Sydney.

Skaters Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

New York City quartet Skaters’ music, ethos, and attitude are remarkably entrenched in the late nights, eclectic characters, and punk roots of their hometown, adopting it as their muse and infusing their sound with the grit and energy of the kind of post-punk and new wave scenes that thrived in the city decades earlier. Their first EP, Schemers, arrived in 2012, and the band followed it up by heading to the famed Electric Lady Studios to begin work on their first full-length, Manhattan, which appeared earlier in 2014 and has already been featured as a Triple J album of the week.

The Strypes are a proper phenomenon! These four Irish lads, all under the age of 18, have skills and a sound way beyond their years, the hard-earned result of years spent honing their craft in Irish pubs, hotels and music halls. With their debut album, Snapshot released in September 2013 and a suite of famous faces consistently appearing in the audience of their shows, The Strypes promise a performance of true blues rock revival.

Jungle Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

London-based collective Jungle are all set to bring their ethereal electronic grooves, bittersweet soul felt melodies and captivating live show to Australia following an appearance at Fuji Rock and ahead of Lollapalooza. Based around a core musical duo known simply as ‘J’ and ‘T’ who expand to a seven piece live band, Jungle make mesmeric, modern soul that’s unmistakably born in the UK but with true global appeal. They were the talk of SXSW, they’ve just been out Busy Earnin’ playing shows with Haim across Europe and they have an album about to drop in June.

The Head & The Heart Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

Following their celebrated eponymous debut of 2011, Seattle’s The Head and the Heart released their second album Let’s Be Still late last year to critical acclaim. The six-piece went from busking and playing open mic nights to selling out San Francisco’s Fillmore, Seattle’s Paramount Theatre, New York’s Terminal 5 and more. Consistently presenting a perfect mix of solid songwriting, sweet harmonies, minimalist drums, hand percussion and solid bass The Head and the Heart continue to win over new fans with their live show. The band has also charmed audiences through performances on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Late Show with David Letterman, the legendary Austin City Limits and Coachella to drop just a few names.

All the way from Nashville, The Wild Feathers make modern rock n roll, laced with nostalgia, built for the new millennium! The Wild Feathers personify the essence of the American spirit by combining rock, folk and blues into a distinctive new rock n roll sound, built around the strength of five harmonious lead singers. With some super high profile support slots behind them – hello Bob Dylan – they enlisted producer Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, The Wallflowers, Emmylou Harris) for their self-titled debut. The resulting record is a collection of bluesy, American rock tunes that they recently showcased at SXSW.

The Acid Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

When The Acid first emerged, there was mystery. Who was behind it? The mystery has now been solved… The Acid are globe trotting, Grammy nominated DJ & Producer Adam Freeland, creator of subversive crossover hit ‘We Want Your Soul’; Californian producer, composer, professor of music technology Steve Nalepa; and Australian, LA based artist and producer Ry X, whose Berlin EP was released in late 2013 to acclaim, and who, with his other alter ego as one half of Howling, created an eponymous club smash and toured heavily through 2013’s festival circuit. The Acid have a self titled EP just out and debut album, Lineal due out in June.

Ry X Splendour In The Grass 2014 Sideshows

LA based Australian Ry Cummings is playing Sideshows both with his band The Acid and in his solo guise Ry X. This talented musician’s beautifully captivating four-track EP Berlin has received international acclaim. Such is the power and immediacy of the title track ‘Berlin’ that it won the attention of Sony Bravia who chose the track to soundtrack their new TV advert, which has been running in the UK, France and Germany since November.
