The Bohicas Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, as the East London four-piece make their debut visit Down Under.

Signed to the influential Domino label at the end of 2013 and led by frontman Dominic McGuinness, The Bohicas will deliver their menacing brand of rock and roll and snakey stage presence to Sydney and Melbourne for two headline shows this June, with special Aussie guests Unity Floors and Drunk Mums.

One listen to first single ‘XXX’ and it’s clear: The Bohicas are destined for big things. That’s what Scottish indie kings Franz Ferdinand thought too, and so asked The Bohicas to support them at various shows in Ibiza and the UK. Next up, The Bohicas are planning to slay audiences at European festivals, booked for slots at Pukkelpop, Latitude, Field Day, Down The Rabbit Hole, and more.

Off the back of their 2013 release ‘XXX’, which swiftly earned high rotation on Triple J, and equally powerful A-side ‘Swarm’, The Bohicas have scored a huge following online with hundreds of thousands of views of their raunchy, double-song film clip introducing the band. Settle in and check it out here.

Excitement over The Bohicas at home is also rising fast, with plays from radio DJs Zane Lowe, Lauren Laverne and Huw Stevens, the latter inviting the band for their first Radio 1 live session. Listen to them perform three songs in the studio here.

Joining the party in Sydney is special guests Unity Floors – aka Gus Hunt and Henry Gosling, whose debut album, The Exotic Goldfish Blues, was released at the end of 2013. Having supported the likes of Lou Barlow, Cults and Wild Flag, the lads’ scrappy rock and roll has quickly won over fans, single ‘Nice Fit’ (listen here) FBi Radio’s second-most played song of 2013.

In Melbourne, joining The Bohicas onstage will be the ever awesome Drunk Mums, who recently dropped their latest killer single, ‘Plastic’ (hear it here). With a big 2013 behind them and a live show full of fun, the band’s amassed a huge amount of fans nationwide – this five-piece is going places fast. Expect hi-jinks and ‘70s jangle pop!

The Bohicas will release their self-titled debut EP on Friday 13 June – days prior to these Australian shows – and it’ll feature ‘XXX’ and ‘Swarm’, as well as the band’s forthcoming third single ‘Crush Me’ and a previously un-heard new song – ‘Bloodhound’.

The four-track recording captures the thrilling momentum of the London based quartet, whose sound ranges from straight up rock & roll to sharp post-punk. ‘Crush Me’ has another cinematic clip (watch it here), this time filmed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, (whose CV includes clips for Arctic Monkeys, LCD Soundsystem, and Blur).

Gigs alongside bands like Drenge, Frightened Rabbit, the Wytches and more, sell-out club shows across the UK and beyond, big word-of-mouth build and serious heat: The Bohicas first trip down under is going to be big. This might be your last chance to catch the band in venues this size – get in quick!
