They died a death on Channel 9 last year after Channel 10 thumbed its nose at renewing a contract with the Australian Recording Industry Association’s night of nights, so it’s with some apparent relief for ARIA that they’ve been picked up by Channel Rove again for this year’s ceremony.

Channel 9’s epic fail had the production quality of Tone Deaf’s high school rock eisteddford entry and the usual lame speeches made it the worst awards in memory. For once there is a benefit to Channel 10 being able to recycle their Australian Idol sets and production experience.

Expect to experience the ultimate cringe this November, where we’d like to nominate Paul Mac as a host, who infamously said ‘we’d like to thank all of Sydney’s ecstasy dealers, without whom this award would not be possible,’ when picking up Itch-E & Sctratch-E’s inaugural Best Dance Release award for Sweetness & Light in 1995.
