Earlier this month we named Come Together among 6 Aussie Music Festivals that are well worth attending.
Today, we have to unfortunately reduce that number to five with confirmation that all ages hip hop festival has cancelled, just over a week before its scheduled kick off at the Big Top in Sydney’s Luna Park on Saturday 7th June with an all-Aussie lineup featuring Kerser, Funkoars, Jackie Onassis, Remi, Diafrix, Citizen Kay, Mind Over Matter, and more.
“We regret to announce that due to ticket sales not reaching their targets we have decided to cancel this year’s Come Together,” reads a statement from festival organisers posted to Facebook this afternoon.
Tickets for Come Together 2014 were just $49, plus booking fee, and offered free rides at Luna park as part of the entry price to catch the lineup.
This year’s cancellation follows on from Come Together celebrating its 10th anniversary edition in 2013, with organisers declaring “the event remains as one of Sydney’s only all ages concert experiences” which has “provided many developing acts the opportunity to play the big stage and help build their fan base.” It also makes it the second all ages event to fall over this year, following Melbourne’s Push Over cancelling its 2014 edition after 21 years of service, also shelved due to poor ticket sales.

Despite the cancellation, organisers promise “Come Together will return in 2015 bigger and better!”
Originally beginning as a festival focussing on hardcore, emo, punk, and metal, Come Together slowly evolved into the all-Aussie hip hop even it’s now become, with the likes of Drapht, Illy, The Herd, featuring in recent years.
The news follows just after yesterday’s confirmation that Adelaide’s Splendour In The Grass offshoot, Spin Off Festival, would not be returning this year “due to scheduling conflicts and international demands on artists” and hip hop festival Sprung confirming it won’t be returning to Melbourne in 2014 following last year’s cancellation, hosting only in its native Brisbane.
