With so much new music floating around the interwebs, sometimes it’s hard to dig a little deeper and find out more about a promising artist.

That’s why The Profile is breaking it down for you. The Pitch takes care of the nitty gritty factual bits, The Plot serves as a Q & A with the artist, and The Plug is where you can go for more.

The Pitch

Since forming in 2010, Melbourne four-piece rockers, My Echo have been making strides in the Australian music scene with their raw and punchy songs, continuous touring and sheer persistence.

Packing sweaty rooms around the country on the back of their 2011 debut release The New Approach EP and digital single ‘Do or Die’, and supporting numerous Aussie long players Bodyjar, Shihad, Trial Kennedy and King Cannons – the band are making the most of 2014, armed with their recently released follow-up Self-Titled EP.

The Plot

Hometown: “The four of us grew up in a country town environment. Brenton, Tom and Darcy grew up in Bendigo, and Henry in Traralgon.

We all thrived on punk rock as youngsters. Either by learning of early punk bands like The Clash or The Ramones through siblings and parents to discovering bands ourselves through friends, TV, skateboarding or even computer games like Tony Hawk’s pro skater. What a soundtrack!

It was a scene that was always very close. You knew everyone in it and there was always this sort of camaraderie between you all. You went to all the local shows and always kept a keen eye on who was doing what where and when. ”

Influences: “Our influences musically come from records or bands that we are currently listening to, or bands that we have been touring or sharing a stage with.

We recently went and watched our mates in The Sinking Teeth and Calling All Cars. Both bands were just incredible!! We were all turning to each other saying things like ‘why can’t we think of doing that’? Bands like Born Lion, Captives, Gay Paris and Waits all continue to do amazing things and release incredible music. It pushes us to work harder and be as good as we can be.”

First Song You Ever Wrote: “As My Echo we wrote a song called ‘Hey!’ It was a bit of a personal stab towards a certain someone. We think you can still find it on the Internet somewhere?”

Favourite Local Act: “Captives, The Sinking Teeth, Kingswood, Born Lion, Gay Paris, Waits. That is only a small amount. Australian music is kicking some serious backsides at the moment!”

Favourite local venue: “The Corner Hotel”

Dream collaboration: “My Echo and Carlton United Breweries.”

Dream rider: “Full fridge of ice-cold beers and an endless supply of kebabs. Must have hummus!”

Best gig you’ve ever been to: “AC/DC – Rod Laver Arena”

Venue Or Festival you’d love to play: “We just played the Bendigo leg of the Groovin’ The Moo tour. It was such a bloody rad day for us. We would definitely love to be a part of the whole tour next time.”
