A Ben Lee Australian Tour 2014 has been announced ahead of the release of a brand new studio album.

Following on from 2013’s spiritual, joyous Ayahuasca: Welcome To The Work (released via his own Ten Fingers Records label), the 35-year-old singer-songwriter has been working on his next release, titled Love Is The Great Rebellion.

Lee will be showcasing material from his 10th studio album – along with a catalogue of his favourites such as ‘Catch My Disease’, ‘Cigarettes Will Kill You’, and ‘Love Me Like The World Is Ending’ – for two headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, presented by Frontier Touring, this June and July.

“It felt like the right time to let you guys in on some of the new songs as a bit of a preview to the new album,” says Lee in a statement.

“For those of you for whom my forays into the impressionistic psychedelia of my last album Ayahuasca: Welcome to the Work was a little hard to grasp, you may be pleased to know that this new album is full of (gasp) pop songs! With choruses!”

Performing alongside Lee at the upcoming shows will be Dave Rogers on guitar and Sophie Koh on keys, with the trio performing “brand new tunes, some old ones, and absolutely no versions of anything on the Frozen soundtrack! (Parents of little kids will understand),” says the songwriter.

Lee is also performing a headline set, and hosting a special vocal and songwriting workshop, as part of Tasmania’s Festival Of Voices 2014 program.

Joining as support for the new Ben Lee Australian Tour 2014 is The Voice contestant and guitarist Danny Ross.
