A Courtney Love Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with the first lady of grunge hitting our shores this August.

Following on from the release of a double-A side single, featuring the fiery ‘You Know My Name’ and pop punk tune ‘Wedding Day’, the musician Rolling Stone once described as the ‘most controversial woman in the history of rock’ will play venues across Australia’s capital cities.

Though she’s made headlines recently for ‘solving’ the mysteries of missing aeroplanes, or making amends with Dave Grohl at Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, Love is known beyond her public perception for her uncompromising music that’s left an indelible lipstick-shaped mark on her generation.

Following stints with bands like Sugar Babydoll, an early iteration of Faith No More and Babes In Toyland, Love eventually formed Hole with guitarist Eric Erlandson, bassist Lisa Roberts, and drummer Caroline Rue. The band found artistic and commercial success with acclaimed albums such as Pretty On The Inside, Live Through This and the commercial breakthrough of 1998’s Celebrity Skin.

Following Hole’s initial split in 2001, Love began working on what was to become her first solo album, America’s Sweetheart, which was released in 2004. Despite work on sessions for a follow-up, titled How Dirty Girls Get Clean, work was abandoned while Love worked towards a Hole reunion tour and the delivery of a new album in 2010, Nobody’s Daughter. ‘

The reunited Hole were set to tour Australia as part of the Soundwave 2012 lineup, but allegedly cancelled after learning they’d be sharing the bill with Limp Bizkit. Australian fans have been starved of Courtney Love ever since.

Now, having returned to the touring circuit with the release of You Know My Name/Wedding Day, playing a celebrated UK tour, Courtney Love is now returning Down Under.

Don’t miss your chance to catch one of rock n roll’s most interesting icons.
