A Byron Bay five-piece have called out to their fans on social media for help in catching the culprit who has vandalised the band’s tour truck.

Hardcore favourites In Hearts Wake are currently on tour in support of their new album Earthwalker, but while the UNFD-signed band were in Melbourne last weekend, the rental truck the band had hired with money out of their own pocket was tagged by a graffiti artist.

“Yo St Kilda, if you’re going to tag our rental at least make it look half decent,” the band noted in a caption accompanying a photo of the group humorously posed around the graffitied vehicle posted to their Facebook page, as TheMusic points out.

“We can barely afford to hire this beast let alone get it removed. If anyone recognizes the scribbler let us know. Not cool.”

“Turns out it’s not spray paint and they did mix their own markers up,” the band reveal in additional comments on the post, while fans offer helpful tips to attempt to remove the vandal’s tag before returning the hire truck and potentially copping a hefty fine.

As In Hearts Wake explain, the costs of removing the graffiti could put a dent in the band’s budgeting, despite the success of their Earthwalker tour, which has managed to sell out all but two of their 11-date run.

The band are currently in Sydney, where they play a show tonight and an all ages gig tomorrow, with special guests Dream On Dreamer, Being As An Ocean, Endless Heights and Sierra. The tour then wraps up in Brisbane on Saturday before the quintet play Live It Up Festival and a series of regional dates.

Upon its release in May, Earthwalker debuted at #5 on the ARIA Charts, while In Hearts Wake’s environmentally conscious music was matched by getting 1,379 “bio-diverse” trees planted as part of a partnership with Carbon Neutral over pre-orders of the record.

Innovative campaigns seem to be the band’s bread and butter; including their award-worthy April Fools prank, an Aussie hip hop ode to green eating called ‘Brown Rice, Tuna, And Salad’, and stretching their eco-minded cause to green-thumbed videogamers, with an anti-Tony Abbott computer game to promote their new album, and last year gave back to the community by raising money for Indigenous charity organisations through sales of their ‘Skydancer’ single.

In Hearts Wake also recently dropped the music video for Earthwalker‘s title track, featuring Joel Birch of fellow Aussie marquee hardcore act, The Amity Affliction, who this week announce their own album tour for their latest, Let The Ocean Take Me
