The Jonathan Boulet Australian Tour 2014 has been announced as the multi-instrumentalist maverick takes his new single and album on the road.

After a year in Germany, Boulet is back with his third LP, GUBBA. The self described “multi-flop song producer” will hit the East Coast to tour his new album this August, taking in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, his first national shows since 2012.

After a UK and Europe tour and performances at SXSW last year, Boulet relocated from Sydney to Germany, sans band and sans plan. His “Berlin Era” was not crack-fuelled like so many others. Rather, the Australian expat successfully managed to immolate past notions of his music amidst the right-proper snowstorms of a European winter. Without crack.

Boulet’s debut self-titled album released in 2009 and 2012’s We Keep The Beat, Found The Sound, See The Need, Start The Heart (both on Modular) were critically praised and saw him grace the stage with the likes of Mumford & Sons, Tame Impala, Kate Nash, Tom Vek and Kindness. He also has played at every festival known to music lovers in Australia from Splendour to Vivid to Falls to Homebake.

The very first taste of Boulet’s new album, GUBBA, arrived in the shape of ‘Hold It Down’, a more aggressive take on the musician’s rhythmically driven sound world. The perfect ambassador for his new entirely self-produced release, which “bludgeons like a doom record sped up to garage-punk tempos … pop music with a scummy outer layer.”

Take a spin of the new track below, then be sure to catch Jonathan Boulet on tour (with special guests Unity Floors) around the country throughout August.
