Prolific local muso Liam Kenny has managed to find time between playing in his bands Bitch Prefect, Peak Twins, Friendsters, and Roamin’ Catholics to record a solo album. Perfectly titled A Kenny For Your Thoughts the record is comprised of “extraterrestrial interpretations” of legendary pop songs created “in the tradition of 60’s pop Idols and suave crooner babes of a bygone era”, in other words it’s a covers album.

The attention demanding first release from the upcoming album is Kenny’s take on Leonard Cohen’s 1971 ‘Avalance’, featuring Kenny’s Suicide-esque yelps, Justin Fuller’s (ZOND) undeniably powerful noise guitar and Al Montfort (Total Control/ Dick Diver/ UV Race etc etc) on sax.

Kenny has enlisted an impressive list of co-conspirators for this solo endevour including: Martin Frawley (Twerps), Amy Hill (School of Radiant Living), Joel Carey (Peak Twins, Wolf & Cub), Ela Stiles (Songs, Bushwalking), Pat Telfer (Bitch Prefect), Amy Franz (Super Wild Horses) and Jack Mannix (Circle Pit, Drown Under, GLOSS).

The album is set for release later this year via It Records (White Hex, Little Desert), for more info you can visit the ‘Kenny For Your Thoughts’ Facebook page.
