The Soundwave 2015 lineup is due this August, with rumours heating up just as it was confirmed that the annual hard and heavy festival would be taking on a new two-day format next year.

The majority of those lineup whispers have come direct from the mouth of Soundwave boss AJ Maddah, well, his Twitter feed that is. And as any of his eagle-eyed followers might have spied, the outspoken promoter has just inadvertently leaked another band for the new weekend-long Soundwave.

After a fan tweeted Maddah asking if Melbourne hardcore five-piece Confession would be added to the Soundwave 2015 lineup, the promoter replied that he’d already booked the group.

Confession have just released their fourth and latest album Life And Death, preceded by ferocious lead single ‘Fuck Cancer’, which features cameos from some of the Aussie hardcore scene’s finest, including Ahren Stringer and Joel Birch (The Amity Affliction), Adrian Fitipadles (Northlane), and Karl Schuback (Misery Signals).

They’re the second Melbourne band to be confirmed for the Soundwave 2015 lineup, following prog-metal band Ne Obliviscaris, who were “welcomed” to the bill by Maddah earlier this year. Fear Factory are also a likely booking for the bill, with the promoter previously stating “we’re keen to have them so I think it’ll happen… They’ve wanted to do Soundwave for a long time,” he says.

Interestingly, all three bands have appeared on a fake Soundwave poster that’s appeared online, with Maddah tweeting “[to be honest] I am totally enjoying this fake line-up!” once it was brought to his attention.

The artwork for the fake poster is loosely based on the same Soviet-era Russia theme of the ill-fated 2011 Soundwave Revolution, with Maddah recently revealing in an interview that Rage Against The Machine were to blame for the event being cancelled.

In the same interview, with the Full Metal Lockdown podcast, Maddah confirmed that “Soundwave has four headliners next year. It’s looking pretty good;” as well revealing that Aussie metal kings of the killer music video, King Parrot were “likely” for a national slot on the bill, as well as American rock group Conditions.

Other bands rumoured for Soundwave 2015 include Rise Against, Lamb Of God, Social Distortion, Against Me!, Disturbed, Smashing Pumpkins, Opeth, Papa Roach, Marilyn Manson, and Anvil

Other ‘maybes’ and acts on Maddah’s “wish list” include Melvins, Dream Theater, DragonforceFlogging MollyThe Pretty RecklessAsking Alexandria, Motionless In WhiteBayside, Four Year Strong, Yellowcard, New Found Glory, Machine Head and ChimairaRoyal Blood and DZ Deathrays.

Two bands that pulled out of Soundwave this year – Stone Temple Pilots and Newsted – may also make the bill. Maddah saying the former is a “maybe” and that he’d “love to have” the latter. But don’t count on seeing any of the following ruled out bands on next year’s lineup: RammsteinJudas Priest, Rush, Rancid, or Enter Shikari.

All will be revealed when the lineup drops in August, first in announcement with all bands to coincide with the sale of weekend tickets, then later splitting bands by day with single day tickets going on sale, as Maddah explained of the new two-day format hitting Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Perth of course, won’t be getting a Soundwave next year after a disastrous run in the WA capital this past March, while the festival’s Western Australia promoters, Altered State, were recently declared insolvent.
