While work continues on The Temper Trap’s first new album sans co-founding member and guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto, frontman Dougy Mandagi has used the downtime to explore his electronic side.

The Temper Trap singer has lent his sweet disposition to ‘Wasted Love’, the new EDM banger from ex-Swedish House Mafia member, Steve Angello. Lifted from Angello’s upcoming debut solo album, Wild Youth, the track features Mandagi’s soaring falsetto and ringing guitar bolstered to a bright stadium-ready four-four beat and cycling synths.

Angello explains to Rolling Stone that the collaboration sparked from a meeting in LA “maybe two years ago. We just wanted to have a song where our worlds collided a little bit … create something that was different but also honored the Temper Trap style. I also wanted to find a great balance between dance and indie,” he explains.

The 31-year-old DJ and producer adds that Mandagi rewrote the song “three times, until it was perfect. It was just a fun thing to do because I’ve been really interested by in the live music perspective – rather than just electronic – because I want it to feel alive. That’s why there’s some guitars and strings in the songs.”

Expect to hear ‘Wasted Love’ spinning alongside Coldplay’s Avicii-assisted ‘Sky Full Of Stars’ in a club near you soon.
