An Elbow Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with one of England’s finest bands returning to greet their fans Down Under for the first time in two years.

Presented by Live Nation, the Elbow Australian Tour 2014 will see the band – charming frontman Guy Garvey, guitarist Mark Potter, keys/producer Craig Potter, drummer Richard Jupp, and bassist Pete Turner – delivering their sublime songbook and graceful live show in a limited run of intoxicating headline shows on the East Coast this October, playing Melbourne, Brisbane, and the Sydney Opera House.

The tour marks the first dates since the release of their latest musical masterwork, ‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’, described as an “expansive, mature, and melodic collection” by our own Tone Deaf reviewer.

The record, Elbow’s sixth, also delivered the group their highest charts debuts of their career including the top spot in both the UK and Ireland, and #12 on the Australian ARIA chart.

Elbow’s live show is as critically acclaimed as their albums, revered for their emotive tunes, finely crafted melodies simultaneously rousing and melancholy; rich layers of orchestration skilfully intertwined with beautifully eloquent, sentimental lyrics, highlighted by Guy Garvey’s barstool poetry, articulated in his unmistakably Mancunian vocals.

Having recently completed a UK arena tour and currently playing the European summer festival circuit, including last months’ Glastonbury and the upcoming V Festival, Elbow’s return is the Manchester quintet’s first since Australian shows since their 2012 national dates with Bombay Bicycle Club, fresh off the back of playing that year’s Splendour In The Grass festival.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale at 10am Friday 1st August, while My Live Nation member will have access to a presale from 11am Monday 28th July. Full details at bottom.

Elbow has consistently delivered superb albums: 2011’s platinum release Build A Rocket Boys!, the million selling The Seldom Seen Kid, 2005’s Leaders of the Free World, sophomore album Cast of Thousands and back where it all began with their 2001 debut, Asleep In the Back. Collectively, Elbow’s discography has garnered numerous awards including two Ivor Novello awards plus Brit, South Bank Show Pop and NME awards, as well as the Mercury Music Prize.

Don’t miss your chance for an audience with one of England’s most critically acclaimed groups as part of the Elbow Australian Tour 2014.
