MC and producer Jonwayne is one of the most interesting figures in contemporary hip hop. Looking more like the dude you call to fix your computer than your run of the mill rapper, it’s Jonwayne’s style (both musically and  fashion wise) that separate him from the rest. His ability to blend soul with avant-garde, unorthodox beats and his lazy but heady flow boost him a level above all the other underground hip hop figures going around.

Signed to Stones Throw Records, Jonwayne cut his hip hop teeth at LA club Low End Theory circa 2008-09, which at the time was emerging as the epicenter of a new generation of hip-hop beat makers: Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing, Kutmah, Daedelus.  Though releasing a number of tapes and records as a beats producer, he made his debut as an MC last year with Rap Album One (2013). Since then the talented producer/rapper has begun ‘Wayniac Mondays’, a new project to make Mondays a little sweeter – he’ll be releasing a new track every Monday until he decides he doesn’t want to anymore- pretty simple.

Number two of the ‘Wayniac Mondays’ series is ‘On’ which sounds like what you’d expect if you comissioned J-Dilla to write a track for a cheesy B-grade movie. For more info on ‘Wayniac Mondays’ visit Jonwayne’s Soundcloud and “tune in next week”.
