Life gets busy, you know. It’s good to remember to relax. If you’ve a moment to spare, you could do a lot worse than soundtracking the rest break in your day to the minimalist melodies of ‘Snow Sketch’, the debut release for Planète aka Melbourne producer Dion Tartaglione.

‘Snow Sketch’, as the name suggests, has a glacial reserve that is reflected in the track’s unhurried pace.

With a whisper of Caribou-esque influence, the melody ebbs and flows, taking an up tempo turn about halfway through the piece before following a fade-out groove in the final stages.

From the mellow notes that glissade along over the husky shaker percussion rhythms, to a couple of well-placed pauses just after the one-minute and five-minute marks, it’s an exercise in cool, measured restraint.

So kick back, relax, and take five (or in this case, seven-and-a-half) and enjoy this superb new release from a very promising local talent.
