The first acts of the AWME 2014 lineup have been announced, locking in a fine selection of artists for the seventh edition of the Australasian Worldwide Music Expo.

Taking place in Melbourne from the 13th – 16th November, AWME 2014 will once again be stocked with high-profile speakers across a broad conference program featuring around 500 local and international music and arts industry professionals. Accompanying the panels and expo is an array of local and international talent performing showcases.

Leading the first AWME 2014 lineup announcement is Melbourne’s Grammy-nominated future-soul favourites, Hiatus Kaiyote; roots hero and recent LA Crticis Award winner, Ash Grunwald; multi-talented Indigenous music icon, Bart Willoughby; buskers-turned-indie-music successes, the Pierce Brothers; RnB maven, Ms Murphy; nu-wave brass ensemble, Bullhorn, and the very talented Indigenous MC, Jimblah.

There’s plenty on the international front as well, including the return of Bluesfest 2014 highlights Nahko and Medicine for the People, from the US, Canada’s blues/roots purists Digging Roots, and from across the pond, New Zealand’s electro hip-hop purveyor Estere and eclectic jazztronica act Myele Manzanza.

“I’m pleased to say that again, this is an incredibly strong and diverse line-up which solidifies our reputation as one of the leading roots music events on the annual calendar,” AWME Director Simon Raynor says in a press statement. There’ll be plenty more local and international talent joining the AWME 2014 lineup in the coming weeks as more acts are announced.

The roster of artists will be performing at various showcases at Melbourne venues such as The Arts Centre Melbourne, The Hi-Fi, The Toff, Ding Dong Lounge, Shebeen and Lounge.
