Following on from a band on the to-be-announced Falls Festival bill letting slip their involvement last night, it looks like next year’s Laneway Festival 2015 lineup has sprung its second leak.

Ahead of her much-hyped debut album Goddess dropping next month, Californian singer Banks has been telling a number of Australian media sources that she’ll be touring her record Down Under as part of the Laneway Festival 2015 lineup.

Recently named the most blogged about artist of 2014, LA’s Jillian Banks “cagily revealed” to FasterLouder  that she was planning her debut visit Down Under. When asked if it would be for a certain indie music festival, she relayed her excitement for the tour; “I’ve never done anything like that, apparently you like travel with the festival for a week?”

The ‘Waiting Game’ singer also told Music Feeds she was “really excited” about Australian tour plans and was “definitely working on something,” though adding cautiously, “I don’t wanna give the wrong information.”

Strengthening the connection is that Banks was near the top of Laneway organisers’ favourites at SXSW earlier this year, the festival sparking its own lineup rumours after sharing their picks for the artist that grabbed their ears at the Austin-based music festival and conference.

Also on the list of Laneway’s SXSW draft picks were locals D.D Dumbo, The Preatures, The Creases, and Kirin J. Callinan (who played last year’s Laneway), as well as international acts Banks, Eagulls, Glass Animals, Forest Swords, Mutual Benefit, Perfect Pussy, St. Vincent, Vic Mensa, The Range, Tourist, Highasakite and Sohn.

The latter Austrian-based producer also appears on Banks’ Goddess, lending his magic touch to ‘Waiting Game’. The full-length record also features the singles ‘Beggin For Thread’,’Brain’, and ‘Drowning and production from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Shlomo, and Justin Parker (who co-wrote much of Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die).

Banks isn’t the only cutting-edge, blog-adored maven looking likely for Laneway 2015. Last month, British dancer-turned-neo-RnB star FKA Twigs was all but confirmed for the festival lineup. Also good timing given she’s just dropped her own highly anticipated debut albumLP 1, this week.

If the ‘leaks’ prove true, next year’s going to have a female contingent as strong as last year’s Laneway lineup (featuring Lorde, Haim, Adalita, Savages, Chvrches, Daughter, Warpaint et al.)

Other artists strongly rumoured for the Laneway Festival 2015 lineup include Sohn, Highasakite, and Thumpers – who are all touring Australia courtesy of Laneway Presents.

British duo Thumpers were in the country last month, Norwegian five-piece Highasakite will make their Aussie debut this September, while Sohn performed what may well be a ‘warm up’ tour just weeks ago, with our reviewer at his Melbourne show speculating “perhaps SOHN (and Jungle, another buzz act on tour for Laneway in July) is a likely addition for the 2015 event?”

As previously reported, Laneway Festival has been nominated in the Best Contemporary Music Festival category at the 2014 Helpmann Awards. It’s the second successive nod for the festival, which is up against Bluesfest, Falls Festival, and Vivid LIVE for the gong. Winners will be announced on Monday 18th August at the ceremony at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
