Check out all the artist, info, dates, ticket details and venues for all the Meredith 2014 Sideshows below. Sleep Meredith 2014 Sideshows

Sixteen years on from the stoner metal trailblazers’ 1998 magnum opus – the hour-long, single-track Dopesmoker – Sleep are embarking on their debut Australian tour for a visit to Aunty Meredith, as well as performing a series of national headline dates presented by promoters Life Is Noise. Their December arrival comes off the back of the trio of heavy riff merchants – guitarist Matt Pike (The Riff, High On Fire), bassist Al Cisneros (OM), and drummer Jason Roeder (Neurosis) – releasing a brand new epic, ‘The Clarity’. Pike describes the 10-minute journey as “the lyrical follow-up to a lifetime of marijuana enjoyment,” and Australian audiences will get five chances to witness the sprawling composition and Sleep’s hypnotic musical apocalypse in the flesh. Don’t miss the ‘Ultimate Stoner Rock Band’.

Cloud Nothings Meredith 2014 Sideshows

Already renowned for their passionate, serrated brand of alt-rock – with a cathartic and intense live show to match – Cloud Nothings will be performing a trio of dates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane courtesy of Laneway Presents. The trio – chief songwriter and leader Dylan Baldi, powerhouse drummer Jayson Gerycz and bassist TJ Duke – arrive Down Under of the back of their newest album, Here And Nowhere Else, hailed as their “strongest album to date” by our Tone Deaf writer. “It only goes for half an hour, but there isn’t one wasted second on the album,” whether its the anthemic single ‘I’m Not Part Of Me’ or the sprawling, claustrophobic seven minutes of ‘Pattern Walks’.

The band’s live sets also draws from their critically hailed, Steve Albini-produced breakout LP, Attack On Memory. Having torn up clubs on their previous visit in 2013, these shows are sure to be one of the summer’s most talked about gigs.

Ty Segall Meredith 2014 Sideshows

Garge rock’s most prolific prodigy is not only hitting the ‘Sup as part of the Meredith Music Festival 2014 lineup this December, but he’s also undertaking his biggest Australian tour to date to coincide with the latest addition to his enormous discography. Manipulator (out Friday 22nd August via Spunk) is a sprawling new double album of searing garage rock, heavy punk riffage, Nuggets-era psych, and straight up high-volume thrash. Australian audiences will get the chance to witness the 27-year-old tearing through his latest opus as he tours venues in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Byron Bay.

Ty Segall’s live show has hit countless global stages, from US festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, to the small clubs of his native California and everywhere in-between. If you’ve yet to see Segall or any one of his many collaborations and off-shots in action live, then you’ve little excuse not to catch him along with his full band (bassist Mikal Cronin, guitarist Charlie Moothart, drummer Emily Epstein) at what will be distortion-fuelled epic sets.

Factory Floor Meredith 2014 Sideshows

Set to deliver their minimalist brand of deep techno and post-industrial beats to an early AM crowd at the ‘Sup, Factory Floor are also bringing the combustive power of their live show – all deep-impact drums and droning, walls of sound – to club shows in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as special festival performances in New South Wales and Brisbane.

The North London duo’s rise to notoriety came off the back of their definitive, self-titled LP – released through the legendary DFA records (and locally on Liberator) in September 2013 – receiving wide-spread acclaim for it subtlety, versatility, and unique approach that sees them as fitting for hard raves as it is festivals, art galleries, and intimate club shows; aligning themselves on an axis that embraces industrial, post-punk, disco, acid, avant-garde minimalism, electro, dub and — most crucially — the dancefloor.

The Lemonheads Meredith 2014 Sideshows

The Lemonheads should need little introduction, with the veteran band’s only constant member Evan Dando having spent so much time in this country over the last 25 years that he’s virtually an Australian citizen. With one of indie rock’s most love back catalogues – thanks to a series of landmark 90s releases – The Lemonheads have been in something of a state of flux lately, having released no original material since 2006.

However, of late, Dando has been holed back up in the studio with the likes of founding member and early co-songwriter Ben Deily (rejoining the ranks for the first time since 1989) and ex-bassist Juliana Hatfield (well-known for her bountiful solo career). This December, playing alongside accomplished local acts Jen Cloher (Melbourne) and Spookyland (Sydney and Brisbane), The Lemonheads will bring us new music mixed in with the classics – it promises to be a special affair for long-term fans and newcomers alike! We can’t wait.

Thursday 11th December – Metro, Sydney

Phosphorescent Meredith 2014 Sideshows

Between performing at The ‘Sup as part of the Meredith Music Festival 2014 lineup, Athens-bred musician Matthew Houck – the brains behind the Phosphorescent moniker – will bring his esteemed songbook to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel and the Oxford Art Factory, presented by Handsome Tours. Though celebrated in his native country, Phosphorescent doesn’t have quite as lengthy an affinity with Australia, but those fortunes shifted somewhat with the release of 2013’s Muchacho.

His most acclaimed worked to date, Muchacho stunned fans and critics alike upon its release, garnering bulletproof album reviews for its accomplished sense of songwriting – as galvanised on popular single ‘Song For Zula’, an unlikely epic inspired by classic Bette Midler ballad ‘The Rose’. These impending Aussie gigs offer the perfect chance to acquaint yourself with the sophisticated musical world of Phosphorescent.

The War On Drugs Meredith 2014 Sideshows

The War On Drugs had the honours of being the very first band confirmed for the Meredith Music Festival 2014 lineup, chiefly thanks to crafting Aunty Meredith’s favourite album of the year, Lost In The DreamFronted by Adam Granduciel, the band’s third full-length effort has landed in the upper echelons of many mid-year best of 2014 lists – including ours – building excitement for the Philadelphia-bred rock classicists’ arrival in Australia.

They’ll be bringing their heroic live show to stages in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, following nearly a year since the band’s last visit Down Under, as part of last year’s Falls Festival and Southbound lineup, including two sold out Melbourne sideshows. Trust us, you don’t want to miss what will be memorable and magical evenings with The War On Drugs.
