Every week a plethora of big name acts, Australian musicians and little-known musos drop brand spankin’ new tracks on the internet. We’ve trawled through the internet to find some of our favourites and plucked them from the masses. Grab your headphones and enjoy.

Interpol – ‘Ancient Ways’

The release of ‘Ancient Ways’ has fans salivating for El Pintor which is set for release September 5 via Matador/ [PIAS] and features special guests Brandon Curtis (The Secret Machines), Roger Joseph Manning Jr (Beck) and Rob Moose (Bon Iver). The upcoming LP was recorded and written with the band at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York. Give ‘Ancient Ways’ a play and remember the  legendary band’s most ‘Interpol’ record yet is only a few sleeps away. (LD)

Nicholas Allbrook – ‘100 k’s round Carmel’

The prolific Nicholas Allbrook is gearing up to release his first solo record and ‘100 k’s ‘round Carmel’ is the first official from the upcoming release. It’s a fusion of lo-fi psychedelic with an almost R&B style chorus, you could say it’s Ariel Pink-equse, but to compare Allbrook to anyone is almost to detract from his own unique and sophisticated songwriting. The album titled Ganough, Wallis and Fatuna is set for release September 5th via Spinning Top Records. Run The Jewels – ‘Blockbuster Night Part 1’

Rap duo Run The Jewels (aka El-P and Killer Mike) have just dropped the first single off their upcoming LP RTJ2 (Run The Jewels 2) a follow up to their 2013 Fool’s Gold release Run The Jewels. Titled ‘Blockbuster Night Part 1′ the single is exactly what we’ve come to love an expect from one of the best collaborations in hip-hop. Having teased the record on Instagram and Twitter, the anticipated follow up has been given an official released date of October 28th via Nas’ imprint Mass Appeal. Caribou – ‘Our Love’

Dan Snaith’s last incarnation as Caribou was way back in 2010 with the epic album Swim, so it’s with much pleasure that we see him return in 2014 with the upcoming LP Our Love due out in October. Title track ‘Our Love’ certainly feels and sounds as though it has been four years in the making. It’s a bold behemoth of a thing, fit to bursting with wavering, oscillating electro soundscapes, 90s-tinged vocal samples, and a fluctuating tempo of trip-hop beats. (CF)

CULL – ‘Magi Fuel’

Sydney four-piece Cull, who graced us with the mind altering ‘Bà Nội EP’ earlier this year, have come back with a song that’s guaranteed to find its way into your soul. Made up of molten reverb that shockwaves its way throughout the 3:46 length, ‘Magi Fuel’ desecrates all in its path with pure happiness. ‘Magi Fuel’, besides implying that Cull lost their ‘C’ key on their keyboards, also shows that the group have somehow become even more in lock with each other. Chook Race – ‘Numb’

‘Numb’ is the first we’ve heard from the trio since last year’s Powernap tape. Sung by the band’s drummer Carolyn, ‘Numb’ is about “having a crush on someone so bad that your brain begins to shut down and you fail to keep functioning normally.” Recorded by Tom Hardisty (Woollen Kits, Nun) it’s just enough Chook Race to keep us going before the release of their debut LP About Time. (LD)

Unity Floors – ‘Hold Music’

Unity Floors‘ track ‘Hold Music’ was recorded in vocalist/ guitarist Gus Hunt’s suburban Sydney lounge room, it’s messy and lo-fi, but that’s exactly what fans have come to love and expect from the duo since the release of last year’s Exotic Goldfish Blues LP. (LD)

Chips Calipso – ‘The Pines 2009’

Melbourne’s Chips Calipso (David Cameron) has cleverly distorted, effected, and layered vocals, guitar, bass, and drums when producing his tune ‘The Pines 2009’ and it works. Cameron’s distorted vocals are hauntingly pleasant as simple drum and bass patterns lay a solid foundation. This basic rhythmic backing allows disjointed guitar tracks and sporadic backing vocals to surprise and entertain whenever they are heard. (JL)

Holiday Sidewinder – ‘Born On The Wind’

Soon after Bridezilla’s departure from the Australia’s music scene, founding member and vocalist Holiday Sidewinder re-located to London and was quickly approached by record label Personal Best to work alongside PBO – Personal Best’s in-house label production team, to lend her unique voice to the track that would become ‘Born On The Wind’. The result of the collaboration is an etherial, indie-electro dance number.
