The full BIGSOUND 2014 conference program has been announced and with it, an additional 30 speakers who join the already mammoth list of unmissable speakers and 100+ artists on the accompanying BIGSOUND 2014 Live lineup for what is Australia’s biggest and best music industry conference.

Among the new additions are a keynote address from legendary Birthday Party co-founder and Bad Seed member Mick Harvey, Spotify’s chief economist Will Page, and data journalist Liv Buli (of Forbes and Next Big Sound), bringing the total tally to over 100 speakers, music industry figures, media representatives, top executives, musicians and artists, who will all be taking part in a variety of conference events at this year’s edition.

Taking over Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from the 10th to the 12th September, the top-tier items of the BIGSOUND 2014 conference program include keynote addresses from legendary Kiwi songsmith Neil Finn, Australian veterans The Church, Bluesfest’s wizened director Peter Noble, the ‘Internet’s busiest music nerd’ – The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano, and APRA AMCOS executive Andrew Harris.

The Association Of Artist Managers sessions will also host discussions focussing on heavy metal and its active community, the future of homegrown hip hop, and the burgeoning country music scene. BIGSOUND organisers also promise an entire panel dedicated to the unique role of Triple J in the Australian music landscape, a focus on community radio, the future of the local music industry, and topics such as publishing, marketing, live music export, international touring, and more. On the live music front, there’s also 140 of the best and brightest emerging talent from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and more playing showcases across two huge nights throughout more than 14 Brisbane venues – never mind the huge range of official (and not so official) events and parties taking place throughout BIGSOUND 2014. View the complete BIGSOUND 2014 Live timetable here.

“BIGSOUND is excited to present this program, the first from Nick O’Byrne,” said QMusic Executive Officer Denise Foley. “QMusic is proud to shake up the program and the showcases every once in a while and not lose anything that makes BIGSOUND special. Spring Break is nearly here!”
