Brace yourself, the date for the first Bluesfest 2015 lineup announcement has been locked in for next week while the annual festival is on track for selling out its allocation of Single Day ‘Open’ tickets in a matter of days.

Following on from this year’s 25th Silver Anniversary edition bringing the historic Byron Bay music festival its biggest record-breaking attendance numbers to date, the festival is set to announce the first artists playing Bluesfest 2015 this time next week, on Tuesday 2nd September.

Expect Bluesfest 2015 to follow the yearly model of multiple themed announcements, adding new acts right up until the Easter event’s kick-off. As for next week’s leading news…

“It will be an announcement of contemporary artists and some returning favourites, followed a couple of weeks later by the addition of the legendary & renowned, with many more to come after that,” teases Bluesfest promoter Peter Noble in a statement today.

“I say every year we climb another level in terms of the artists we are bringing to you and 2015 will be no different: The bar will be raised once again!” adds Noble.

That’s quite a call considering how high the bar was raised with Bluesfest 2014. Featuring a lineup of over 90 artists (headlined by Dave Mattthews Band and John Mayer) performing over multiple stages across five days and nights of music, this past April’s edition drew nearly 105,000 attendees and recently claimed the Best Contemporary Music Festival gong at the 2014 Helpmann Awards.

“I truly believe this year is going to be one of our best ever in terms of famous and quality artists playing as well as welcoming new artists to the mix,” Noble adds. “For all of you, who have been waiting to buy – you better buy soon – this year has sell-out written all over it.”

In fact, Bluesfest 2015’s single day ‘open’ tickets are set to disappear in the next 72 hours, offering festival-goers to choose which of the five festival days – from Thursday 2nd April – Monday 6th April – they’d like to attend for $129 (+b/f).

Meanwhile, all 5 and 3 Day passes are also on sale now, but prices are going to increase before the first lineup announcement lands next Tuesday when Single Day Tickets simultaneously go on sale “this means you will have to choose the day you come and pay more for your ticket!” organisers note.

One artist we can likely lock in for the Bluesfest 2015 lineup is none other than Billy Bragg.

As reported last September, Noble cornered the Bard of Barking – in the country for a keynote appearance at BIGSOUND – for a touted Bluesfest booking and was seemingly successful. “We caught up with Billy in Brisvegas last night. He has confirmed his appearance for Bluesfest 2015,” wrote the Bluesfest director on the festival forums; “so there you have it – first announced artist for that year.”

Noble is also set to deliver his own keynote address on the second day of BIGSOUND 2014 next month, just a week after the first Bluesfest 2015 lineup announcement drops – perhaps he’ll drop a few more clues about the bill?
