Brisbane sprout, Young Franco is back, and not holding any punches. Fresh from playing Splendour In The Grass as well as touring this fair country with Alison Wonderland on her sold out, national tour with fellow youngin’ Waveracer, Franco keeps momentum with his 2-track EP, Close 2 U.
As well as his festival appearances, Yong Franco has just been announced to play as part of Stereosonic as well as a string of shows running all the way until October. To celebrate the tour and the release of Close 2 U, we asked the talented producer to put together a list of the most important tips one should remember when getting ready for the summer festival season, more specifically Stereosonic- obviously ‘getting ripped’ is already assumed.
Water, Sunscreen and Hat
“Every time I’ve gotten to a festival I’ve already been super de-hydrated and have learnt to bring a bottle of water or two every time. Nothing worse than being at a festival and passing out because of something dumb like that. Hats similarly essential BUT NO SUN VISORS.”
Practice Your Trap Hands
“I will be with my homie DJ Butcher so this is essential.”
Prepare Good Pre-Drinking Tunes
“Whoever is playing should always be on the pre-drinking playlist. Too many names to mention but this year Disclosure, Duke Dumont, Diplo, Oliver Hendens and Alison Wonderland will be the primary choices. If not it’ll be 50 cent and NWA- ha.”
Have A Plastic Ziplock Bag
“I’ve broken a phone once when it was POURING RAIN and I desperately had to use my phone (for sexts if I’m honest). Got absolutely drenched and so did the phone. Not a good experience.”
Organise A Portable Phone Charger
“I’ve been using a phone charger at pretty much every festival. You make heaps of friends from it too haha. It’s funny if you lend it to someone and you’ve had it down your pants the whole trip there.”
Earplugs, You Got Some?
“This is more of a personal one but I get super worried about my hearing so I always have a pair of custom earplugs- my ears are beautiful alright!”
Wear Shoes You Don’t Care About
“They will get wrecked, so make sure you’re prepared to basically throw them out after the festival.”
