Every week a plethora of big name acts, Australian musicians and little-known musos drop brand spankin’ new tracks on the internet. We’ve trawled through the internet to find some of our favourites and plucked them from the masses. Grab your headphones and enjoy.

ARCA – ‘Thievery’

Venezuelan producer Arca is the mastermind behind some of the most forward-thinking, boundary-pushing moments in electronica this side of the decade. While Arca has built a reputation for his influence behind the scenes, now the enigmatic figure is stepping out from the shadows with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, Xen, and ‘Thievery’ is our first glimpse of it. (DM)

Drunk Mums – ‘Nanganator’

Melbourne pub rockers Drunk Mums have just dropped their brand new single ‘Nanganator’, a follow up to the power rock hit ‘Plastic’,’Nanganator’ is and ode to nangs, whippets, bulbs, those cheeky lil’ canisters that your Mum uses to decorate cakes, and teenagers use to get high. (LD)

SBTRKT Feat.A$AP Ferg  – ‘Voices In My Head’

‘Voices In My Head’ is perhaps one of Jerome’s most organic offerings so far. The piano and percussion elements mixed in-between the synth nuances allows for an almost trippy and dark mix. (CT)

Jessie Ware – ‘Kind Of…Sometimes…Maybe’

England’s latest brilliant soul export is gearing up for the release of her second LP, Tough Love, which is expected to drop sometime in October. We’ve already heard ‘Share It All’, the title track, ‘Say You Love Me’ and ‘Want Your Feeling’. ‘Kind Of…Sometimes…Maybe’ is just as captivating as what we’ve already heard. With slinky beats and typically smooth electronic production the track is a repetitive yet sexy three minutes of pop. (CT)

Rob Muinos – ‘I Was Dreaming’

Local music fans may recognise Rob Muinos as the backing vocalist and guitarist in the soul juggernaut that is Saskwatch, or possibly as one of the rotating members of new musical collective Dorsal fins. What you may not know is Muinos is in fact an incredibly talented songwriter and singer in his own right, need proof? Check out his debut single ‘I Was Dreaming’. (LD)

SAFIA  – ‘You Are The One’

The track begins with a melancholic piano opening, that includes just a touch of grandiosity, before making way for the same polished beats and smooth synths, which has got them this far in the first place. It has the right amount of catchiness and danceability tailored just in time for summer festival audiences. (CT)

Stella Angelico  – ‘Prey’

Rock n roll, soul and blues fans it’s time to meet Stella Angelico, the adored rock n’ soul heroine of the Melbourne underground. ‘Prey’ was inspired by the story of a Polish woman who was buried alive by her husband, but escaped using the engagement ring that he gave her “When I’m underground give me diamonds / When I’m cold wrap me in stars / When it’s all burning down dress me in my wedding gown / Won’t be your Prey”. (LD)

Orphans Orphans  – ‘Lighten Up Your Day’

Orphans Orphans are just effortlessly cool. Made up of dudes from Brisbane bands like The Jungle Giants, Morning Harvey, The Belligerents, Moses Gunn Collective, Last Dinosaurs and Millions, their new single ‘Lighten Up Your Day’ highlights the myriad of styles and influences that make them so interesting to listen to. With fuzzy vocals, a squeaky-clean drum line and a brilliant, slightly psychedelic backing vocal line, it’s interesting to hear all these different ideas come together and create what can only be described as a total rock banger.
