Milky Chance Falls Festival 2014 Sideshows

Fresh from a European festival season and acclaimed headlining performances at the likes of UK’s Reading Festival and Spain’s Food For Thought, the German-duo Milky Chance will be bringing their summer sounds and vibrant music to their first Australian festival performance at The Falls Festival – and today have announced two special shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

In 2013, school friends Clemens and Phillip began work on their full-length debut, Sadnecessary and when they were finished, they uploaded several of the tracks, including the catchy “Stolen Dance” online [watch here]. With its bright handclaps, plaintive acoustic guitars, and smooth delivery the song became a viral sensation, eventually racking up over 65 million YouTube views. With their fresh and original take on folk, soul and reggae-infused electronica Milky Chance will be one of the must see shows of the New Year.

Glass Animals Falls Festival 2014 Sideshows

Oxfords’ GLASS ANIMALS are set to play headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne around Falls Festival.

Glass Animals have quickly become one of buzziest buzz bands of recent times. Vocalist and songwriter David Bayley draws influence for both music and artwork from his involvement in the world of medicine and neuroscience creating a sound with it’s roots spread between the electronic and live instrumentation. The result is the warm, narcotic space between a downbeat, slow-burning groove and electro-pop catchiness.

The release of their debut album ZABA has been the catalyst for an incredible year of relentless live performance for the band across the globe, their record has been fully reimagined live to packed tents and sold-out venues across the UK, Europe, USA, and Australia.

The Black Lips Falls Festival 2014 Sideshows

The Dirty South’s finest rock n roll gang The Black Lips, have already been announced on the Falls / Southbound lineup for this year and today, Laneway Presents and Penny Drop confirm that they’ll be making headline appearances on Tuesday 6 January at The Hi-Fi in Melbourne and Wednesday 7 January at Oxford Art Factory.

Atlanta’s beloved sons entered the year 2013 through a screaming cloud of sweat, smoke, blood, and beer mist, in front of a dangerously packed hall in New Orleans’ French Quarter. If a band’s bipolarity runs on a touring vs. recording spectrum, then the previous year was the mother of all manic spells.

After a spring and summer running the usual festival circuit in North America and Europe, the Lips embarked on an extensive tour of the Middle East. As Cody assembled his footage into the feature, the band returned home from the New Year’s maelstrom and began settling into album mode, with the release of Underneath The Rainbow earlier this year.

Straight Arrows & Destiny 3000 in Sydney, and Frowning Clouds & Steve Miller Band in Melbourne will join The Black Lips at their shows.

Cold War Kids Falls Festival 2015 Sideshows

Cold War Kids have added Melbourne and Sydney headline dates around Falls festival, ahead of the release of their fifth album ‘Hold My Home’.

‘Hold My Home’ was produced by guitarist Dan Gallucci and Lars Stalfors (Mars Volta, Matt and Kim) at the band’s own studio in San Jose, California.

The Los Angeles four-piece elevate their passionate take on indie rock having morphed effortlessly from the buzz band that brought us ‘Hang Me Up To Dry’ and ‘Hospital Beds’ to the distinguished single machine we see before us. Blessed with that reedy, urgent cry of a voice, lead singer Nathan Willett and his erstwhile cohorts have never been far from our hearts and radios with tunes like ‘Something Is Not Right With Me’, ‘Louder Than Ever’, ‘Miracle Mile’ and newest single ‘All This Could Be Yours’ (taken from their latest album) never failing to impress.

SBTRKT Falls Festival 2015 Sideshows

Off the back of an extensive USA and European tour, South London’s SBTRKT will return to Australia this January for headlining shows in Melbourne and Sydney. In addition SBTRKT will also appear at the already-announced Falls Festival, Field Day and Southbound, where fans will have the chance to groove along to songs from the debut record as well as new tunes from Wonder Where We Land.

Far more than just a complete absence of vowels, in the last few years Aaron Jerome, the man behind the SBTRKT mask, has put a whole new spin on the post-dubstep landscape of indie electronica. The dance world really began paying attention to Jerome’s project back in mid-2011 with the release of SBTRKT’s eponymous debut album, which won DJ Magazine’s Album Of The Year and reached the Top 50 Of 2011 list in publications such as NME and Pitchfork.

Having first dipped his toes into Australia waters back in 2011 with a DJ tour, SBTRKT has become a regular visitor to our shores in recent times having already smashed prestigious slots at Laneway Festival, Falls Festival, Southbound, Field Day and a smattering of sold out headlining shows. Take nothing away from SBTRKT – he’s adventurous, he’s enigmatic, he’s ambitious and he’s coming back to a stage near you this summer!

Wednesday January 7th – Forum Theatre, Melbourne
Thursday January 8th – Enmore, Sydney
