Kendrick Lamar – ‘i’

Ariel Pink – ‘Put Your Number In My Phone’

With new track ‘Put Your Number In My Phone’, from upcoming album pom pom, Pink more or less keeps a lid on his wilder side. Instead he offers up a mild mannered tune built upon a bed of halcyon, Americana-melodic guitars, making quite a sweetly romantic ode to the act of scoring someone’s phone number. (CF)

Apes – ‘Strange Tastes’

Moody restraint is the theme of ‘Strange Tastes’, the killer new released from Ballarat rockers Apes. There’s the deliberate nonchalance of the intro, with its punctuated drum beats, which slips effortlessly into a slinking haze of fuzzed up guitars. With a roundly venerated recent performance at Bigsound, a recent signing to Native Tongue Publishing, and an upcoming UK, Apes are on the rise. Play this one on repeat. (CF)

Elliphant & MØ – ‘One More’

Scandinavia is the centre of the pop music universe right now. In 2014 alone the likes of MØ, Röyksopp & Robyn, Tove Lo and a host of others have been collectively killing it with quality infectious pop tunes. So when two of the Northern Europe’s brightest up and comers collaborate it’s a very very big deal. Rapper singer Elliphant is no stranger to thick beats and gangsta tones, but on ‘One More’ the Swede is joined by Dane Karen Marie Ørsted for a moody mid-tempo number. (CT)

Magic America – ‘Monday Song’
