If Sable isn’t currently on your radar then it’s time to update the data in your Pokedex and do it fast as the Pilerats signed artist continues his stellar year and releases the limited edition Kanto EP. In a year that has seen the Perth producer collaborate with Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, the new drop has all the warm and fuzzies to break the shackles on a winter slumber, ushered towards the warmth of Spring and the eager anticipation of happiness and new memories the summer will bring.

Featuring two loaded tracks ‘Thunderwave’ and ‘Surf’ it’s definitely worth parting with as many rare candies as you can spare to get a copy. ‘Thunderwave’ the first on the EP is a delightful, airy track built on spacious, wavy synths, teleporting to the endless digital fields of Kanto city (a Pokemon city, duh) where on a mission to catch them all involved running around in long grass and getting lost in a sense of adventure. With soft, comforting lyrics “I feel at home with you’ and ‘I like you a lot’ swirling around it has all the elements of a daydream jam, stuck behind the glass until the days work is done.

‘Surf’ is built on the notion and freedom of surfing forever. It takes the analog sounds of surfing the islands on a Pokemon of choice and melds them seamlessly with a futuristic trap feel with blurting sirens, 8-bit injections and a thumping bassline giving it this weightless sensation, somewhat like floating on a board as waves, with no real direction take a journey along beaches and coves that seems to last forever.

Good enough to risk a Masterball on, you won’t want to let this limited edition escape or be scared away. Coming with an ultra cool Pokeball themed vinyl and special Sable Pokemon collectors card, head on over to Bandcamp for more info. Check the tracks below!
