They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but a really good copy also makes for some pretty humbling chuckles.

Earlier this year, we were treated to a hilariously accurate parody of Nine Inch Nails, featuring the requisite electronic throbbing and interspersed “weird guitar” riffs, all while brilliantly emulating Reznor’s own breathy, vocal strains and building towards a chorus that borrows the main hook from Hesitation Marks single ‘Copy Of A’

Now we’ve come across a Nirvana parody that is as brilliant as is it totally batshit insane.

Sock Puppet Parody creates music videos of iconic bands featuring their socks. Yes, they rework classic songs into songs about socks and then make hilarious music videos out of them with sock puppets.

They’ve already done videos of Skrillex, Static X, and the Sex Pistols as the hilarious Sox Pistols singing Anarchy In The Rock Drawer, complete with Sock Vicious getting high on detergent.

Now they’ve turned their attention to iconic grunge act Nirvana, releasing a music video under the name of Smellvana singing, well it’s pretty obvious isn’t it, Smells Like Teen Spirit.

With lyrics like “Stink ignored, and smell matured, oh no I see a dirty sock. Hell no, Hell no, Hell no, sinkhole” and “wash the whites now, it’s less painless, clean my socks now, sanitise us”, the absurdity is sure to take your mind of whatever it is you’re procrastinating about.
