The way Australia’s electronic music scene has grown over the last few years is nothing short of staggering. From humble beginnings, our sweeping plains are now home to international electronic superstars like Flume, beloved homegrown heroes like Nina Las Vegas, and some of the world’s most coveted festival tickets.
With an electronic scene as healthy and brimming with talent as ours, it’s sometimes hard to skim the cream from the crop. Luckily, Triple J Unearthed have done all the hard work for you. The station has compiled a mix of Australia’s best new producers.
Ahead of Listen Out last month, which featured Triple J Unearthed artists opening in every city, the station aired a special segment titled Listen In, which broadcasted two hours’ worth of awesome emerging Aussie electronic talent. For those of you that missed out on catching it live, the segment is now available to stream via SoundCloud.
Hosted by Unearthed’s Music Director, Dave Ruby Howe, the “cheat sheet” to “the best emerging electronic music in the country” includes cuts from Sable, Deja, Chiefs, DJ Holden Commodore, Party Platypus, and many more, as well as interview with UV Boi and Just A Gent, who also appear in the stream.
“Every single day we’re discovering great new electronic music on triple j Unearthed and it’s being created by some of the most exciting emerging artists in the country, so it made a lot of sense to put together two hours of radio that handpicked the very best of that new wave,” Ruby Howe told InTheMix. “It turns out that two hours was merely just scratching the surface of the killer stuff that we’re hearing come through Unearthed!”
