Advance Stream: Jakob’s Long-Awaited New Album ‘Sines’
Sines, the latest effort from critically acclaimed New Zealand post-rockers Jakob is out Friday, 17th October. The Napier natives’ latest dispatch comes after an eight-year wait and this unique, soaring collection of new tracks has made the wait more than worth it.
The album’s epic opening number, ‘Blind Them With Science’, sets the tone for the rest of the record, exploring new sonic territory for a band that has always followed their own true north on each release.
Once again, Jeff Boyle’s guitar work generates powerful walls of noise, Maurice Beckett provides hypnotic, propulsive bass lines, and Jason Johnston on drums contributes thunderous rolls of precise tom-work and complex rhythms to forge a mix that demands repeated listens.
Following the album’s release this Friday, the band will embark on a long-awaited new set of tour dates. Jakob will bring Sines to life onstage from Wednesday, 26th November at the Republic Bar in Hobart, cruising up the East Coast before finishing up at Crowbar in Brisbane on Sunday, 30th November.
