The year 2014 has already been a rousing success for Aussie teens, what with our list of unbelievable talent aged 18 and under, but would you believe that an Aussie musician has been named in Time Magazine’s 25 Most Influential Teens?

Let your patriotic pride soar, 19-year old artist Troye Sivan Mellet, more commonly referred to as Troye Sivan, has been heralded by the world famous publication as one of the most influential youngsters in the world this year.

Born in Johannesburg South Africa but calling the west coast of Perth home, Sivan brings a whole new meaning to the world “viral” having lived what can only be described as a mega 2014.

This year, the artist explored the depths of his musical prowess, releasing the insanely adored dark-pop tune ‘Happy Little Pill’ (which had one million Soundcloud streams in its first 24 hours) from his forthcoming debut EP, Trxye, which is the highest placed pre-order on iTunes in over 30 territories.

That’s not to mention the millions, that’s right millions of followers stretched across almost all social media platforms that hang on his every word, it’s safe to say that Sivan is definitely one of, if not the most influential teenager in Australia right now.

A born entertainer, Sivan gained fame in 2007 by simply posting videos onto YouTube and Tumblr before starring as Oliver Twist in the theatre production Oliver!  to scoring a film role in the blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, the young man’s rise to popularity covering numerous creative facets.

The 19-year old joins a very broad list of teens, including the unstoppable Princess of brooding-pop, Lorde, as well as social media mogul-turned-musician Austin Mahone, not to mention the Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai and interestingly, the daughters of Barack Obama (hmm?)  you can check the full list on Time Magazine.
