Foo Fighters – ‘Something From Nothing’

After months of nail-biting, fans can finally feast their ears on the sublime first track to be taken from US rock and roll giants Foo Fighers forthcoming new album, Sonic Highways. The song is titled ‘Something From Nothing’ and between the Sabbath-like riff interludes and the ‘Higher Ground’ keyboards, it serves as five-minute sonic highway unto itself. (GM)

David Bowie – ‘Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)’

The forever shapeshifting King of art rock, David Bowie, has returned to form in 2014, revealing a brand spanking new track ‘Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime). The exciting new tune sees the 67-year old croon his way triumphantly through 7 and a half minutes of shimmering jazz glory, a genre that has remained surprisingly somewhat untouched by the artist throughout his illustrious career. Mykki Blanco – ‘Moshin In The Front’

New York writer/ poet/ rapper/ incredible all round talent Mykki Blanco will be releasing his latest project titled Gay Dog Food on the 28th of this month. Promising a spoken word track featuring Bikini Kill/ Le Tigre/ The Julie Ruin front woman Kathleen Hanna, Gay Dog Food will also feature this track ‘Moshin In The Front’ some of Blanco’s most abrasive and enthralling work yet. Twerps – ‘Back To You’

‘Back To You’ is the first taste of jangly Melbourne pop foursome Twerps’ highly anticipated sophomore effort, Range Anxiety, which is slated for an Aussie release on Friday, 23rd January 2015. For the crate-diggers out there, Back To You will also see release as a 7″ vinyl in early November, featuring the non-album B-side Always Waiting. Run The Jewels – ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)’

Hip Hop duo Run The Jewels aka El-P and Killer Mike have just dropped the latest taste of their upcoming second album RTJ2 and it’s a no-nonsense straight up banger. Titled ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)’ the anticipated track features vocal samples and a verse from Rage Against The Machine’s Za De La Rocha. It says somehting about El-P and Killer Mike’s MC talents when De La Rocha is the weakest rapper on the track. (LD)

Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders – ‘Her Hands’

Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders have unveiled their new single, Her Hands, the latest cut to be taken from their highly anticipated fourth album, Playmates. Her Hands is an avant-garde take on classic on synth-pop tropes, which, combined with Ladder’s trademark croon, production from none other than Kim Moyes of The Presets, and a cameo from The Dreamlanders, make for a unique, shadowy, body-moving trip of a second single. Day Ravies – ‘This Side Of The Fence’

Sydney’s blissful dream-gaze quartet Day Ravies have released a new track and although it’s not exactly what you’d expect, it’s killer. ‘This Side Of The Fence’ sees the band climb over to the other side of the fence, leaving behind the upward gaze of Tussle to explore the depths of Krautrock. Hammocks And Honey – ‘The Pawn’

Melbourne duo Hammocks and Honey have just dropped ‘The Pawn’ it’s the first we’ve heard from the talented two piece since the release of their Spellbinder EP four years ago. ‘The Pawn’ is a stunning fusion of atmospheric synth electro and avant pop. Mixed and mastered by Simon Grounds, the track is menacing and enthralling, and a clear return to the lavish expanses of their previous work. (LD)

Young Magic – ‘Something In The Water’ (Roland Tings Remix)

Brooklyn-based electronic duo Young Magic have announced their debut Australian tour, touring the country with four headline shows running through November. To celebrate the occasion, their track ‘Something In The Water’ from this year’s Breathing Statues LP has been given an Antipodean remix by Melbourne producer Roland Tings. The original track’s dense, foggy atmosphere has been intensified with a faster pace, bolstered by a pulsating snare drum beat and its hazy atmosphere filled with flickering, space-age synths.
