Halloween On A Boat

Where? Victoria Star Cruise Ship, Central Pier, Docklands, Melbourne
When? 7:30pm, Friday 7th November
Why? Incase you’ve caught the Halloween fever and can’t shake it a whole week after Halloween, Johnny Rock is hosting a spooky party on November the 7th. And not just any party but a party on a boat. The event will feature “the beat-pop, rock-jive vibes of The Sand Dollars, The psych scuzz rock of Shadow Makers, and the eclectic house party masters The High Suburban.” Dress up is highly encouraged and tickets tot he event will get you free entry to the Ding Dong after party. Also one of the major plusses about partying on a boat is if you have a lil’ vom you can blame it on seasickness- hooray crisis averted.

This Thing Presents Halloween @ Goodgod

Where? Goodgod Small Club, 53-55 Liverpool St. Chinatown., Sydney
When?  11pm, Friday 31st October
Why? This Thing is an exciting collective of Aussie electronic artists The Thing was the movie where people all started killing each other out in the Antarctic ’cause of viruses or something, that’s scary right? Anyway This Thing are throwing a lil’ less scary Halloween party at Goodgod, it’ll feature the talents of the much hyped (and deservedly so) producer Guerre, N.B.L which is a team up of Silent Jay and Wooshie (double trouble), and the 4-way team of RY4, who having recently supported Mykki Blanco, Total Freedom and Nguzuguzu have mastered the art of bringing out the bangers.

Fred Falke

Where? Alhambra Lounge, 12 McLachlan St, Fortitude Valley Brisbane

Why? French people eat spooky shit like snails and frogs, so clearly it’s only relevant that Alhambra Lounge are hosting a show by French house producer/DJ Fred Falke. Having worked alongside to the Tiësto, he’s clearly got the musical chops to get you moving. Dress up is highly encouraged and there will be cheese burgers at midnight and “freshly squeezed juices for your crunk juice” whatever that means. Brisbanites get along and try to pash a skeleton.

Heavy Set 2.0

Where? The Catfish, 30-32 Gertrude St, Fitzroy, Melbourne
When? 8pm, Friday 31st October
Why? The always welcoming Catfish on Gertrude St in Fitzroy will be having their own Halloween bash featuring some of Melbourne’s most exciting #darkwave and electronic talents including HABITS, Cheap Present,  Bad Ambulance, the aptly named Dark Pool (ex Night Terrors members) and the less aptly names Golden Girls. The event will also feature Gertrude Street Projection Festival projection artists VJing the event- all for 10 whole spooky bucks. Not too bad huh? Costumes are semi encouraged with a ‘dress-up dress down’ policy. Hopefully ‘dress down’ means nude ’cause there’s nothing scarier than seeing someone eat a Philly cheesesteak starkers.

Why?   Regular club night ESC with be throwing their event number #5 this Halloween and to celebrate they’re promising “oblique club trax all hallow’s eve”. Featuring “sonic sacrifices” performed by Marcus Whale (Syd, Collarbones / Black Vanilla), Larrie, and ‘The Unholy Trinity’ Rap Simons, Air Max ’97, and ASPARTAME this one is a dead-set rager. #Healthgoths and non #healthgoths are encouraged to attend.

Why? Miss Thema Plub released an EP called Monsters and now she’s about to lauch her national tour, so it’s pretty much perfect for a Halloween party/ gig huh? Already being hailed as a one of Australia’s most exciting live performers and only still in her teenage years, the scariest thing about the show will be witnessing how talented Plum is. Also there will be special edition vinyl available on the night.
