Earlier this year the legendary lads of mind-bending psych and space rock, POND, begun playing their new track ‘Elvis’ Flaming Star’ live.

Our Tone Deaf writer was stoked with the live jam, aptly describing it as “a ‘Footloose’ sounding drum sequence kicking it off before moving into a rolling bass line and wavy fuzzed out guitar, the new tune is jammed with swag and spaced out synth lines.”

Last week POND announced their forthcoming record, Man It Feels Like Space Again, will be out January 23, 2015 and this week the guys have released a studio version of the tune, their first official release since we rode their fat-riffed spacecraft to 2013’s Hobo Rocket.

With studio refinements, ‘Elvis’ Flaming Star’ naturally sounds a lot cleaner, still charged with the clapping ‘Footloose’/’Close To Me’ percussion and funky as fuck bass lines as Nick Allbrook takes listeners through POND’s woozy world of Aussie psychedelica.

The music video couldn’t be more POND as Allbrook, Jay GUM Watson and Shiny Joe Ryan get blasted in silly -string, pelleted with water balloons, light fires, dance shirtless (with a bit of nipple rubbing), just being the general loveable goofs that they are.
