Bloodhounds On My Trail

Ali Barter

Why? This captivating and mesmerising Melbourne artist is into her second week of her month long residency at the ultra cool Melbourne CBD music space, Boney. Having taken some time to work on fresh material, Barter is performing tracks from her forthcoming EP Community, which we can grab our grubby mitts on November 7. ‘Community’ is the title track and first release from the upcoming EP which sees Barter at her most haunting yet, her vocals as sweet as their sharp, whilst she pertains to the familiar meld of dream-pop meets folk soundscape that we initially fell in love with. On top of this, Barter will be joined by Soundbeam Sound Machine. We can’t think of a better way to send off a Tuesday.

This Friday night sees the rockin’ three-piece Fucking Teeth take to their native home stage of The Bird for an evening of high quality Aussie tunes. Fronted by man of the hour, Peter Bibby, this trio produce some face-melting garage tunes that stretch to nearly 10-minutes, dig ‘Chair’ for proof. Melbournians forces Mangelwurzel and Whipped Cream Chargers will set the great vibes to come.

The Broken Hills Band

Why? It may only be Tuesday, but man are we getting super excited for the weekend. This Friday night sees the gritty, earth blues rock four-piece The Broken Hills Band take over the iconic Cherrybar for a night of live music one won’t soon forget. We’ve been hooked ever since we heard ‘Love Conjured’, a tune riddled with dry dessert rock riffs, sprinkles of psychedlica and hoarse vocals that are wonderfully reminiscent of Tom Waits’ drawl that can only get better when witnessed live. If that’s not enough, supports include Leopard Slugg and The Flying So High-O’s.
