In September we premiered the incredible new single ‘Prey’ from Melbourne’s new queen of soul Stella Angelico.

Inspired by the story of a Polish woman who was buried alive by her husband, but escaped using the engagement ring that he gave her, ‘Prey’ now has a stunning new video accompaniment.

Produced by Kat Mitropoulos, and directed by Stella’s friend, Peter Savieri, who worked with Stella to develop the concept, the video was funded via a successful crowd funding campaign.

Stella explains the making of ‘Prey’ “the video was shot in one day at Wilson’s Prom.  It was an absolute trek to get to the spot!  I felt like we were on Survivor, lugging camera gear through the thick scrub.  When we did finally get to the location though, I was speechless!  I’d never seen such an incredible expanse of sand dunes in my life!  So beautiful.

The wind in the video is real!  It was freezing (especially in the water at 7am) and sand in my eyes kept making me cry my make up off.  I liked it though.  The hike to get there and the wild weather were actually perfect for the feeling we wanted to create.  I think we all felt a sense of struggle and determination throughout the shoot, which is exactly what the song is about!”
