We know that the world simply cannot get enough of pop-country superstar Taylor Swift, however fans in Canada have just taken their obsession to a whole new level.

Tuesday saw the Canadian iTunes have a little bit of a malfunction, causing a mysterious ‘Track 3’ to appear available to purchase from Swift’s forthcoming record 1989. As Buzzfeed point out, the “brand new song” which is no more than 8-seconds of squealing white noise, soared to #1 on the Canadian iTunes charts. We shit you not.

To be fair, Swifty did in fact release an actual single yesterday entitled ‘Welcome To New York’, so naturally, fans more than likely presumed that ‘Track 3’ was another single being made available for download.

Despite this not being the case, there are thousand upon thousands of Canadians who are now $1.29 CAD poorer, and 8-seconds of white noise richer.

Taylor Swift is yet to comment on the leak, but we’re sure she’s pretty chuffed, she is currently the most streamed globally artist at the moment with her tune ‘Shake It Off (narrowly beating close-by Aussie artists.)

It’s a little sad the late and great Lou Reed wasn’t met with this sort of reception back in 1975 when he sonically said “fuck you” to the labels with his similar sounding Metal Machine Musicsigh, he really was ahead of his time.

For any of you Swifty-swooners out there, 1989 is out October 28 of this year.
