Ellery James Roberts is a bit of a vanishing act, leaving fleeting traces of poetic, musical genius and then disappearing again before the world can properly soak in his work.

Roberts was the lead singer of the ill-fated WU LYF, who disbanded all too soon in 2012 but not before leaving behind a captivating debut album, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain.

Luckily Roberts has continued on with different projects and still carries the essence of WU LYF’s spirit with him. Last year the enigmatic frontman dropped a solo track out of nowhere, ‘Kerou’s Lament’, but disappeared again until now, as if to just let us know that he was still around.

His new project is LUH. (Lost Under Heaven) with vocalist Ebony Horn. They’ve shared their first track, ‘Unites’, and it’s as dramatic and grandiose as all of Roberts’ past creations.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what emotion Roberts’ gritty, heart-wrenching vocals whirls up inside of you – nostalgia, yearning, a bit of angst – though maybe it’s best to leave it murky. Whatever it is, it’s something.

Let’s just hope LUH. stays around for longer.
